Initial Release

Initial release of the project.

You can choose between 4 sizes of ships on either side. Each ship can only have as 4 bots as per life support station. Skiffs and Scouts have a single life support station so that means 4 bots. The Frigate and Destroyer get two, so that gives them 4 bots. Bigger ships have the potential for more modules the bots can use.

The simulation is emulating the phase and round system of Battle Stations 2, but it is not completely implemented. As bots use modules in a round, they get used markers. Those used markers make using that module more difficult. You will see bots move from one station to another to find an easier way to perform their task. This is the case with Engineering (Blue), Science (Green) and Security (Red) bots.

Command bots (yellow - pilots) do not have to worry about used markers, but they will eventually have to worry about making the ship go into Out of Control (OOC). This is currently not implemented. Once implemented, it will make it harder for bots to move and could damage the ships.

Engineering bots (blue) work hard on balancing the energy load between Helm, Guns and Sheilds. If they can pump the engines (create more energy) they will. Otherwise, they re-distribute the energy per the requests from the other bots. The ship uses a queue to keep track of these requests, so first come first serve. This does slow down the other bots a bit.

Science bots (green) scan the other ship. Scans (Scn) can be used to re-roll a die in a single ability check. This is done behind the scenes, and it is rare to see the value rise as they are used almost as fast as the Science bot can Scan. Scanning has no draw backs, so Science bots spend a lot of time scanning. Eventually they will also send out ECM bursts to disrupt missiles (work in progress).

Security bots (red) will fire when there is enough power in Guns. Too little and they won't do enough damage to make using the system worth it. If the Security bot misses with a missile, the missile will explode doing damage to its own ship. They prioritize cannons for this reason.

All non-engineering bots will request power when their systems (Helm for Command, Sheilds (Shld) for Science and Guns for Security).

Known issues:

  • game hangs on occasion
  • bots can stand on each other in terminals
  • no audio
  • moving the camera is too confined
